“g” in Š! #22 ‘FASHION’, 2015.

As stated in the introductory blurb, “This issue is not really about fashion – or is it?” Indeed, although issue #22 of kuš!’s international comics anthology is dedicated to the theme “fashion,” the artists in it work in (mostly) mysterious ways. More than stories about clothes, the comics in this volume tackle with the inner workings of styles and trends in a wide-ranging way, creating outputs that are “gorgeous, stylish, romantic, youthful, sexy, experimental, and always surprising, almost like fashion itself”.

My contribution, titled “g” after the GeoCities’ logo, is a nonnarrative about a girl named Pan Pipes, her BFF the maid Shinji, and a weeaboo vampire called Vapor Waves. Expect shocking bright colors, challenging lettering and a lot of raw energy in this 10-page comic filled with noisy soft grunge get-ups, Evangelion iPhone wallpapers, and animegao.

Como diz o blurb introdutório, “Este número não é realmente sobre moda – ou é?”. De facto, apesar do número #22 da antologia internacional de banda desenhada da kuš! ser dedicado ao tema “moda”, os artistas que nele participam escrevem e desenham direito por linhas tortas. Mais do que histórias sobre roupa, as BDs neste volume prendem-se de forma alargada com os mecanismos internos dos estilos e correntes, gerando resultados que são “lindos, estilosos, românticos, joviais, sexy, experimentais, e sempre surpreendentes, quase como a moda em si própria.” A minha contribuição, intitulada “g” como o logo da Geocities, é uma não-narrativa sobre uma rapariga chamada Pan Pipes, a sua BFF que é uma maid de nome Shinji, e uma vampira weeaboo chamada Vapor Waves. Preparem-se para cores berrantes e muita energia crua nesta banda desenhada recheada de indumentárias soft grunge ruidosas, wallpapers de Evangelion para iPhone, e animegao.
